Steps To Protect Yourself from Pest-Borne Diseases

With this fast-paced life, it is quite possible to get attacked by many diseases inside and outside your house. Other than the internal human diseases, there is an alarming rate of pest-borne diseases as well. Any disease could easily get transmitted in your body through food and water contaminated by pests. Few pest control services such as Saela Pest Control will help you in taking precautions if your locality is all surrounded by pests.

You must take following actions to protect yourself from pest-borne diseases:

  • Keep Your Environment Clean

Well, it is not always about your house when it comes to cleanliness. You need to be very careful about the surroundings too as pests can easily enter your clean home through dirty surroundings. Open gutters, open trash cans, littering anyplace, dumping old products, cluttering and others are all contributing factors to the population of pests. If you restrict these things, you can bring down the pest population and live a disease-free life.

  • Wash All Fruits and Vegetables

We have been taught this since we were born to wash all the eatables before consuming them directly. If you fail to do this, a number of diseases can enter your body through such food as any pest could have licked or bitten such food items. Since fruits and vegetables are daily consumption products, a lot of precaution needs to be taken while eating these consumables.

  • Wash All Liquid Cans

Whether you buy sodas or juices, beverage cans or alcoholic beverages, avoid consuming directly from the bottle without washing them. Many places across the world have banned opaque liquid cans or bottles due to pest infestation. Rat urine was detected on tons of bottles or cans in the warehouses or factory outlets. The companies may be making a lot of efforts to prevent pests entering their units, but pests can always find their way in.

  • Cover Your Skin

It is strictly advisable to cover your legs and skin (by wearing full clothing) especially when sitting in a garden or trailing in the forest area. You never know what type of pest could attack you and make things worse. Hence, better safe than sorry! Mosquitoes, bugs and bees get an easy access to your skin if exposed. There are fatal diseases that can transmit in your body through such common pests and insects.

  • Use Repellants and Lotions

Take mosquito repellants with you everyplace you travel. No matter how clean and green the environment is, if it is wet and marshy, seasonal mosquitoes can pop out from any place. Repellants will help you keep away the mosquitoes from biting you. If you are allergic to certain chemicals, you can use herbal lotions too like Neem (Indian Lilac) oil or other oils that will keep the mosquitoes and flies away from you.

  • Use Mosquito Nets

Mosquito nets are not only meant to cover your bed area, but these nets can be stuck on your window panes too to block the entry of small pests or insects from directly entering your place. This really works the best! You can then leave the windows open all day around keeping the net as the protector throughout the day and night. If you have an infant, children or pets at home, mosquito nets are compulsory for you to ensure their safety.

  • Use Common Pesticides

You know that any pest control service (including Saela Pest Control) may get expensive if pests are not leaving your place. You can use few common pesticides checking the most feasible one for the type of pest you are dealing with. For example: if you have mosquitoes bothering you on a regular basis, you can go for any common mosquito repellant spray.
